STATISTICS SHEET FOR FOXA100
FOXA100 is a microprocessor based thermal
conductivity instrument for testing in accordance with ASTM C 177 and ISO 8302.
Minimum sample size is 65 mm diameter. The actual measuring area is 36.9 mm.
The instrument accepts samples up to 150 mm square and up to 28 mm thick. If
150 mm square samples are used the sample acts as part of the guarding system
by covering the rest of the plate. Samples smaller than 150 mm square require
surround guards to cover the rest of the guard zone. The instrument produces
conductivity results accurate to within 1% with 0.2% repeatability and 0.5%
reproducibility. Both instrument plates utilize solid state heating/cooling and
operate between 0°C and 80°C (32°F and 176°F). (Temperatures of 145°C are
available in advanced version.)
The Main Heater Assembly is the heart of the Absolute System. It consists of
three concentric heater systems in one. The central main heater where the
actual conductivity measurement is made is 36.9 mm in diameter and surrounded
by two independent concentric heater rings 12.5 mm wide. The power dissipated
in the heater is measured to arrive at the conductivity. The temperature of the
guard area rings is matched with the temperature of the main heater to minimize
lateral heat flow. An additional guarding system of heating\cooling modules
provides isothermal temperature over the rest of the 150 mm plate area.
A Heat Flow Meter is used to control temperature of the bottom surface plate to
assure that all power generated in the center section of the main heater will
be driven through the measuring area of the sample.
FOXA100 utilizes state of the art analog and digital electronics developed
specifically for thermal conductivity testing instruments and refined over
years of use in our FOX Heat Flow Meters. It is also very simple to operate.
Step by step instructions are displayed on clear four line LCD display.
Plate spacing is automatically adjusted to the desired specimen thickness
(accurate to within +/-0.025mm ( +/-0.001")). This accuracy is achieved through
the use of a sophisticated digital plate position control system with readout
in all four corners of the specimen.
Input power can be either 115V or 220V 50/60Hz user switchable at 700VA. Water
at 18°C (65°F) or lower is also required. Instrument dimensions: 330 mm wide by
620 mm deep and 465 mm high (with Bell Jar).
